Easter Weekend 2009

We had a very busy and meaningful Easter weekend. Good Friday evening was spent at church with a beautiful and appropriately somber musical presentation by the choir, accompanied by violins, an oboe and the organ. It told the story of Jesus' crucifixion through songs and Bible passages. It was a very moving event. The Hand Bell Choir played a wonderful arrangement of "Were You There?" as we accompanied a flute soloist. I will post video on the Alliance United Methodist Hand Bell Choir blog soon.

We spent Saturday morning at a wonderful Easter Egg Hunt organized by Smithfield United Methodist Church. Both kids got plenty of Easter eggs.

I couldn't get any pictures of Garrett gathering Easter eggs because I was too busy chasing him around the field. He was not interested in hunting for eggs at all! He saw the big open field and just wanted to run. Even thought the field was big, it was not fenced in and Garrett could easily run into the street if I let him get too far away from me. So I spent my Easter egg hunting time chasing Garrett and trying to convince him that picking up plastic eggs out of the grass was more fun that running in an open field. He remained unconvinced and consequently only gathered a couple eggs. Oh well. The Easter Bunny brought plenty more on Easter morning.

There was a bounce house there that both kids thoroughly enjoyed.

But sometimes, examining the floor of the bounce house is more fun than actually bouncing.

Both kids got to see the Easter Bunny. Erin had no problem sitting on his lap and posing for pictures.

Garrett was a little shy of the Easter Bunny, but showed him the boo-boo he got at the playground.

By the end of the morning we were pretty tired, but had a great time. Here is Erin relaxing after lunch at McDonald's.

Thank you to the United Methodist Women of Smithfield United Methodist Church for putting on such a fun Easter egg hunt. We had a blast!

That is so cute Garrett running. Did Erin get enough for candy for both kids? G'ma
