Rain, Rain, Go Away! (NOT!!)

The sun did not shine.....

It was too wet to play......

So we sat in the house all that cold, cold, wet day.......

Thank you Dr. Seuss for that lovely introduction to the rain, but I, for one, am not bemoaning the rain at all. Yeah, we may be stuck inside, and the kids may be driving me crazy because they can't get out and play, but we here in North Texas have been flirting with a drought for awhile now. We are just finishing up the driest winter on record. If it doesn't rain in the winter and spring around here, the ground gets parched and cracks. But even worse than that, the summer tends to be exceedingly hot when the ground is dry. Our summers are already bad enough, with 4 plus months of 95-105 degree temperatures every single day. If you get up at 6:00 am to walk the dog, it's already 85 degrees. But in drought years, the temperature is more like 100-110 day after day after day, with the low temperature more like 88.

So it has rained almost non stop for the last two days, and it's supposed to rain for the next two as well. Not only that, it's a cold rain. We'll be lucky to get to 40 degrees today. But I say bring it on!!

We'll make the best of it. Like play in the rain and hope like heck that somebody doesn't get their eye poked out with an umbrella wire.
And check out my little Morten Salt girl. "When it rains, it pours."
